HGV DRIVERS DIARY 2026
Who is this diary for?
NOT JUST FOR LORRY DRIVERS
The HGV Drivers Diary is a professional tool created for commercial drivers who want to record their working time, rest periods and daily notes in a clear and organised way.
IT IS IDEAL IF YOU ARE:
✓
A lorry / HGV driver
International transport, cabotage, solo or team driving — this diary helps you keep track of driving time, rest periods, ferry crossings, daily notes and weekly limits.
✓
A coach or bus driver
Regular routes, tourism, city or intercity work — easily record driving hours, breaks, rest periods and important work-related information.
✓
A van driver working internationally
Since 1 July 2026, drivers’ hours and tachograph rules have applied to light goods vehicles used for certain international goods transport operations where the maximum permissible mass of the vehicle, including any trailer, exceeds 2.5 tonnes but does not exceed 3.5 tonnes. Exemptions apply, including qualifying own-account transport where driving is not the driver’s main activity. This diary helps you stay organised and keep useful notes, but it does not replace any legally required tachograph records.
Check the current GOV.UK guidance to confirm which rules apply.

Our Diary: From Small Beginnings to Large-Scale Orders
It all started in a garage – with just a small number of copies printed for fellow drivers. What began as a simple idea quickly grew into a trusted work diary used by drivers across the UK. The Driver’s Diary has now expanded beyond the UK market and is also available in Germany and Poland.
In 2024, demand exceeded our production capacity – that’s why production moved from a garage to a rented warehouse. Even as the scale has grown, the purpose has stayed the same: to provide a practical tool for recording drivers’ working time, designed by people who understand the transport industry.
This year, we are preparing around 10,000 copies for the UK market. However, demand can be high during the season, and reprints may take 6–8 weeks – so it is worth ordering early rather than waiting until the last minute.
From 2026, some drivers, including certain van drivers in international transport, may need to follow rules similar to those applying to HGV drivers – so staying organised and preparing in advance matters more than ever.

About Me
I am an HGV driver with over 15 years of experience in the transport industry. For many years, I struggled to find a good-quality diary that truly helped professional drivers stay organised, record their working time and plan their week more effectively. That is why I decided to create one myself.
When I first started my career in transport, I had many questions and uncertainties. I wish I had a diary like this back then to guide me and make everyday work easier. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to speak with many truck drivers, learn from their experience and better understand what drivers really need on the road.
I received a lot of help from others throughout my career, and now my goal is to give something back by creating a practical, reliable and easy-to-use diary for professional drivers. I am grateful that this simple idea has grown into a tool used by drivers across the UK and beyond.
Stay safe on the road!
